Seniors celebrate their final days of high school

Categories:

The last week of school is filled with freshmen, sophomores and juniors studying, spending long hours in exam rooms and the summer taunting them right around the corner. On the other hand, seniors get this last week to have fun and exciting activities to celebrate the last days of their high school lives.

Monday, May 18, is the senior sunrise. Seniors will get the chance to meet with their classmates on the football field to watch the sun rise, marking the start of their final week. After school lets out on the 18 for seniors only, there is a senior jeans painting activity. Then, on Wednesday, May 20, seniors have their annual boat cruise, heading down to the Ohio river to board a BB Riverboat and partake in some wonderful sightseeing. Thursday, May 21, the seniors will spend the day at Kings Island. Then ending their senior year on Friday, May 22, with a graduation practice followed by a senior cookout.

“Honestly this week is a great way to get our minds off of things and just having a good final week, making the most fun possible,” Matthew Rosel (12) said.

Being a senior, the future is constantly lingering along with the worry of how the following months will play out, but having a week to decompress and not focus on the challenges is a plus. Like Rosel (12) said, the distraction of rides, riverboats and laughter alongside friends is a great way to not focus on the challenges.

Despite the twists and turns of high school, seniors have made it to the final stretch and deserve a week to remember. These activities offer incredible opportunities to make life-long memories alongside the students that seniors have grown with.

“It’s a great way for seniors to wind down at the end of the school year and celebrate how far we all have come and how hard we’ve worked,” Bailey O’Day (12) said.

Four years of high school, the countless hours spent on work, tests, applications and more, all coming down to this final week. O’Day (12) points out the greatness in these activities, knowing how much her and the rest of the graduating class deserve this.

“This week will give us the chance to celebrate our accomplishments, making final memories, and spending time with one another before we all go our separate ways,” Morgan Pompilio (12) said.

Celebrating all the hard work is definitely deserving, although making these memories for the last time is so important. Pompilio (12) said it best, that spending these final moments doing fun activities is an amazing way to end the year before splitting ways.

The seniors are deserving of this week to decompress and spend their final moments with the people they have been working alongside for many years. The memories and friendships that have been made throughout the years, all coming together for one more week, is a beautiful way to end this chapter and prepare for the many more to come.
