On Feb. 12, seniors who were taking Probability and Statistics class designed probability games to share with many students. These students made these games to obtain statistics and data for their class. A student who played one of these games, Cam Markus (12), played a rolling dice game for the carnival created by her peers.
The game was really fun with the medal dice because it was cool how heavy it was, and it was a challenging game, but they made it where you could get something back,” Markus (12) said.
The game had a low chance of rolling a six, which was the winning goal of the game. There was a low chance of winning, rolled a lucky 6.
This was the essence of many of the games. Individuals play with the paper money they all get at the beginning, they win or lose, each with a different probability of winning extra money or losing it all.
Each probability and statistics class designed these games to play.
“It was three different classes, and each class period had two to three different games,” teacher Stacey Behrensmeyer said.
There were a large variety of games as well.
“The best games were the lollipop pull, it was very popular because people could win suckers. Axe throwing was pretty popular as well. And some of the card games that they had were good because you could win a big prize,” Behrensmeyer said.
The carnival was a success in its first year, and it is planned to be an annual event.
