Dance Blue raises over $2,900 for Golden Matrix Fund

Categories:

Dance Blue is an annual event that raises money and awareness for pediatric cancer. The goal is to raise as much money as possible for the Golden Matrix Fund, which is dedicated to supporting families through the funding of medical research, scholarships, and assisting with day-to-day expenses.

This year, it took place in the gym and gym lobby, where there were games such as nine square and gaga ball, along with continuous music by a DJ. Attendees received a swag bag with a t-shirt, a yellow ribbon pin and other small miscellaneous accessories.

Students also had the opportunity to purchase goods from a bake sale led by their peers or participate in a raffle. By the middle of the event, there were pizzas for students to have, and still plenty of time for more dancing.

The entire event is put on by a committee of hardworking students who plan all activities and themes. These students spent the better part of the beginning of the year putting together the best event they could.

“I decided to be a part of the program because I wanted to make an impact, and this was the perfect way to positively help others,” Lillian Grau (11) said.

Overall, the cause was a success, not just from the amount of money that was raised but also because of the enjoyment it delivered to the students.

HHS DanceBlue raised over $2900 this year to donate to the mission. We are still waiting on more donations to clear, but this is the estimate of the total as of now,“ Dance Blue advisor Stacey Behrensmeyer said.
