Senior Gwen Gorman prepares for the upcoming match between Highlands High School and the Boone County Rebels.

Last night, the Highlands soccer team played in the 9th annual regional soccer tournament, winning 4-0 against Boone County Rebels despite Jasmine Rehberger, sophomore, not playing due to injuries and Greta Noble, sophomore, playing with a knee injury.

Lindsey Meyer, senior, scored the first goal of the game and assisted with the second with 3 minutes left in the first quarter of the game. She now holds the triple crown scoring record with a total of 71 goals, 40 assists, and 182 career points. The remaining two points were scored after halftime.

Madison Helminiak, junior, went to the game to watch her sister Katelynn play. “When we scored with like 2 minutes in the game that really helped.”

Now the girls’ team will advance to play at Ryle at 7 on October 17th.
