Hoops for Hunger is a fundraiser hosted by the boys’ and girls’ varsity basketball teams. Instead of buying tickets, people bring canned goods to donate. It also allows for the community to see this year’s teams in action. This year’s event took place Tuesday, Nov. 25.
The night started with the JV and freshman boys and girls teams splitting up and playing each other. After the two scrimmages, the cheer team performs.
Throughout the night, students had many games to play, such as relay races and wearing big jerseys for another race.
There was a three-point contest between the grades; the seniors, Kaylee Mills, Avery Barber, Tripp Nicolaus, and Vinny Listerman, won the whole thing.
The dance team performed after the three-point contest.
There is a senior mom shootout, and Avery Barber’s mom won.
The night ended with a scrimmage from the girls’ and boys’ varsity teams.
Overall, Hoops for Hunger is about service and ensuring the basketball teams have a good and enjoyable start to their season.
