On Friday, October 24, the first game of the 2025 MLB World Series will take place in Toronto, Ontario, at Rogers Centre. The Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays will go head-to-head in a best-of-seven series.
There are mixed views on this year’s World Series for a variety of reasons, including the fact that this is the Dodgers’ second year in a row making it, and many fans do not like that.
“I think that they only make it this far because of their payroll. If they can afford Shohei, Freddie, Mookie, and all of the other elite players. I hope they are able to make it this far,” baseball player Nick Rucker (10) said.
The Dodgers are currently favored to win the series, although the odds are tight. Many odds compilers are predicting that the game will last the full series and be decided in game seven.
“I think this will be a great World Series with two stacked teams playing. On one side is arguably the greatest player of all time [Shohei Ohtani], and on the other is a stacked pitching staff, with a good balance of position players,” baseball coach Mitch Meyer said.
Both teams have a key player in their lineup. For Los Angeles, that player is Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani is a two-way player who pitches and hits. Ohtani hit 55 home runs this year with a .282 batting average and had a 2.87 ERA after coming off Tommy John (UCL) surgery.
For Toronto, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. came off a below-average season to his standards, hitting 23 home runs with a .262 batting average. Guerrero has picked things up in the postseason, hitting 6 home runs with a .442 average. Both Ohtani and Guerrero won their league’s respective Championship Series MVP Award.
“Shohei has definitely had an amazing season, and I think he will significantly impact the outcome of the World Series. Vladdy has been great in the postseason, and I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do to help the Blue Jays,” Rucker (10) said.
As of October 28, the Dodgers are leading the series 2-1. Game three lasted an astonishing 18 innings, which is double the normal length of a game, which has nine innings. The game finally ended with a walk-off home run hit by the Dodgers’ first baseman Freddie Freeman.
