Students prepare for midterm exams 2025

Categories:

At Highlands High School, stress is a normal part of daily life. For a student, it tends to increase around exam season. Balancing sports, homework and home life, students feel as if balancing all of it is a ton of pressure and responsibility.

“It’s stressful because if you do bad then you might get consequences,” Nicholas Stojkovic (9) said.

Many students are developing new study techniques to make sure they do well on their exams.

“I am going to go over review material, ask my teachers questions and create flash cards to study vocabulary,” Kaylee Mills (12) said.

Teachers are stepping in to help students mitigate anxiety by posting study guides and having study sessions.

Teachers provide study guides a couple of weeks in advance so students can have time to prepare. Culinary teacher Kelsey Setney uses different types of review games in order to prepare students.

“So we’ll do some review games, like Gimkit, Jeopardy. We just kind of go over all the things that we’ve learned. We might talk about different scenarios, since we talk a lot about personal development and relationships,” Setney said.

Teachers want their students to feel less stressed and get the best grades they can. Staff will help to provide plenty of resources and papers to help students set a goal they should score in order to pass the exams.

“So, Mrs. Schnitzler will put out a little study paper that has where you put your classes and you put your grades and you put what grades you need on the exams in order to pass your classes or get the grade that you want pretty much,” Rachel Stephenson said.

Overall, students feel the need to put in more work around exam season. They tend to feel stressed more often but teachers help out by giving out study materials in advance.
