Winter break is meant for celebrating the holidays with family and friends. Many people go on vacation to spend their time, but don’t worry – there are many ways to enjoy your time here in Kentucky. Here are some ideas.
The Light-Up-Fair is a drive-through Christmas light show at Boone County Fairgrounds. It’s a great family-friendly spot suitable for all ages. This takes place Nov. 21 – Dec. 27, 2025. It’s $7 per person or $25 per car with 8+ passengers. Children ages three and under get in free. It opens at dusk, and the last car will get in no later than 10:00 pm. With the cooler weather, this is a warm and cozy option.
Christmas tradition is all about lights, Winter Nights and River Lights on the Purple People Bridge provides a Christmas walk across the bridge to see all the beautiful lights located in Newport. It includes music and “Christmas Wish Tree,” where the community can connect and share many gifts, and projections. This lasts all day, Nov. 22, 2025.
While in Newport, check out the Scuba Santa at Newport Aquarium. This is a good option for kids; they will get to see Santa all geared up, swimming in the tank. Additionally, there are playful bubbles that provide a way for kids to tell Santa their wishlist.
BB Riverboats Holiday Cruise includes food, festive views, and fun on the river. This is a great way to relax and get into the holiday spirit. A specific suggestion is their Christmas Eve Dinner Cruise that takes place on Dec. 24, 2025. It’s two hours long and costs $64 for adults and $42 for children. Although this option is on the pricier side, it is a great way to spend a fancy meal with family and friends during the holiday season.
