The Birds beat the Dixie Heights Colonels 49-0. By the end of the first quarter, Highlands had already surged to a 28-0 lead, which extended to 42-0 by the end of the third quarter when JV players took over the field.
Highlands gained 154 rushing yards while allowing just 58. They racked up 353 passing yards, giving up only 142.
Quarterback Rio Litmer (11) led the passing game with nine completions out of 14 attempts, throwing for 217 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 1 interception. Cale Harris (10) contributed with five completions in 6 attempts, throwing for 94 yards and 1 interception.
Litmer also led the rushing game with 78 yards on 3 attempts, including 1 touchdown. Devon James (12) added 31 yards and 1 touchdown on nine carries.
In receiving, Adam Surrey (12) hauled 3 passes for 109 yards and a touchdown. John Feldbrugge (10) followed with 2 receptions for 68 yards, earning his first varsity touchdown.
The team finished with 3 rushing touchdowns, 4 receiving touchdowns, and 7 extra points.
Defensively, Issac Niemann (11) recovered a fumble, Ryan Dunn (11) made 2 solo tackles, and Peyton Klosterman (11) grabbed an interception, returning it for 47 yards.
