Sports week recap: February 8-14
Last week was an exciting week for Highlands High School athletics, including the boys and girls basketball teams, the wrestling team, and the archery team.
The boys’ basketball team played three games last week, gaining two wins and one loss. They played against Campbell County High School, winning with a score of 86-74. Then they played against Beechwood High School but lost with a score of 63-67. Their last game of the week was against St. Xavier High School, winning with a score of 84-68.
The girls’ basketball team played one game last week against Beechwood High School, where they dominated them with a final score of 77-28.
The wrestling team competed against Boone County, Grant County, and Covington Catholic last Saturday at senior night.
The archery team had their first meet last week at Ryle High School. They ended up placing fourth with a total score of 3205.
“While we scored lower than we had hoped, I’m very happy with our team’s score,” said senior Ethan Stuart, co-captain.
Senior Adam Flotemersch was the highest-scoring male of the tournament, scoring well over 100 points.
“We have some incredible shooters this year, so I’m confident that we have the potential to be top ten at state this year,” said Stuart.
The archery team still continues to work hard, even on snow days, and their next tournament will take place today, February 19.
