On September 6, Highlands High School mathematics teacher Kelsey Etherton became the Highlands girls soccer coach after Chris Norris stepped down.
Etherton is a Highlands Alumna who graduated in 2014 and played on the girl’s soccer team.
“Being a part of the Highlands soccer program myself and watching my older brothers go through it, I know how awesome it is to represent your high school and wear that letter ‘H’ on your chest for four-plus years.”
She hopes to give these girls the same experience that she had as a Bluebird, and with this being her first year as the head coach, she has many goals for these girls on and off the field.
“At the end of the day, as much as we want to win games and win titles and all these different things, it’s more about how these kids walk out into the world.”
Franny Smith (11) shared her thoughts of Etherton taking on the role of head coach.
“I would say I am very hopeful for what she’s going to be able to accomplish as the head coach.”
The girls have a record of 6-2-3 currently and can’t wait to see the impact that Etherton can have on their program.
