The Next Step in Life: Retirement Comes to Moyer’s Principal

Ruth Moyer Elementary’s principal of nine years, Dr. Dawn Laber, will forever be one of the greatest principals Moyer has ever known. Though she is retiring, she will forever leave a positive impact on Moyer.

She says that she will miss student hugs, supporting families, teacher laughter, staff friendships, and collaborating with her admin team.

Laber stated: “I am excited to be with my own two children. I have missed classroom parties, open house events, and volunteering at their school. I am excited to be home at 3 pm when my kids get home from school and spending summers having fun with my husband and kids!

“I always looked forward to seeing her and how she was always really nice, she would smile, and talk to you. I feel like she was nice to everybody. I loved all the little fun things she did, kissing a frog, pie in the face, running around the school dressed like a turkey.” Freshman Elody Cark said.

“One of the traditions that Dr. Laber started is our tagline or our hashtag #TogetherWeAreBetter. While it may sound simple, that phrase echos everything we do at Moyer. We want everyone to have a voice and representation and Dr. Laber is passionate about that.”

The counselor at Moyer, Shauna Luebbers, shared. Dr. Laber believes in a growth mindset, learning from every meeting, every mistake, every story, every success, and everyone seems to agree that it will leave a lasting impression on Moyer.

After working for 28 years, Laber is excited and ready to retire.  Laber’s positive impact will forever be remembered by students and staff alike.
