Olivia Rodrigo teases third album

Categories:

It’s the last night of the “GUTS World Tour,” everyone’s dressed up in purple and yelling in excitement as the final show is about to begin. The start to “Bad Idea, Right?” plays, Olivia Rodrigo walks onto stage and everyone is shocked as she reveals a new red outfit.

Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo has two current studio albums, “Sour” (2021) and “GUTS” (2023). Recently, her fans have been buzzing with speculation about a third studio album, often referred to by “OR3.” While she hasn’t officially dropped a title or release date, a series of clever hints and teasers gives fans hope for a release.

“I’m really excited for her to make a new album, and I want her to because it’s been a really long time,” Kit Valentine (10) said.

On Feb. 23, 2024, Olivia Rodrigo started the “GUTS World Tour,” which became her most successful tour, performing 102 shows across the world with over 1.5 million people in attendance. By the last stop of the tour, Rodrigo was known for her iconic “GUTS” rings and unique outfits, but on the final night, Rodrigo wore a shirt with the number three and gave out her iconic “GUTS” rings to fans, making everyone believe it was a way of hinting at her new album.

“GUTS’ is a lot of heartbreak and a lot of screaming, and I think this new one will be about kind of like more love and more soft and smooth,” Greta Niese (9) said.

Throughout late 2025 and early 2026, Rodrigo has been interviewed about her new album. She says it is going to be different and will draw from new life experiences and tour lessons. She has also informed fans that there are easter eggs about her new album at the end of the “Bad Idea, Right?” music video, similar to when there were easter eggs to “GUTS” in the “Brutal” music video in the album “Sour.”

Another way that Rodrigo is hinting to fans about her new album is by posting photos of her in the studio and leaking parts of her unreleased songs that could potentially be on the album.

“I am very excited about it, and I love the teasers to some of her songs that are going to be on it,” Niese (9) said.

One of the main theories about her new album is that the main color is going to be red with hearts. Adding to this theory, Rodrigo added red hearts to her online post and official website.

“I’ve seen a lot of people say that her new album is going to be a red color scheme,” Valentine (10) said.

What made fans most curious was on Jan. 5, 2026 Rodrigo posted a license renewal appointment page set for January 8, 2026, the 5th anniversary of her hit song “Drivers License.” This post made fans believe that her new album was coming out soon, but sadly fans were wrong and the license renewal was actually to promote a series of reworking  “Drivers License” with David Byrne and other artists coming soon.

Even with lots of excitement, Rodrigo hasn’t confirmed anything about the new album, but multiple hints and teasers have confirmed there will be something new as soon as this year. One thing that fans do know is that her new album will be her biggest and most successful that she has released, most likely surpassing “GUTS.”
