The long-awaited announcement of who the Homecoming king and queen of 2023 at Highlands High School (HHS) is finally here. Jude Eckerle and Molly DeSola were voted the winners at halftime of the football game on October 6.

Homecoming at Highlands is a big deal. The school put together a spirit week the week before the dance where they held themes such as pajama day on Monday and white lie day on Wednesday. The week was concluded by the homecoming parade on Wednesday, October 4. While the events during the week excite the students, the crowning of the homecoming king and queen really makes the experience complete.

“I didn’t expect it, I appreciated it a lot but yeah it was not expected,” Eckerle said.

“It was really shocking, enjoyable, just kind of a shocker,” DeSola said.

Winning homecoming isn’t something one expects during high school. It was such a shock to the homecoming winners, but they had a fun and exciting time while being announced as a winner and just soaking up their senior moments on the homecoming court.

Eckerle said: “It was a good time, we had a really really good group being the representation of our class.”
