Boys Varsity Tennis defeat Newport Central Catholic 3-0

The boys’ varsity tennis team took on and defeated Newport Central Catholic on Thursday, May 7th, with an overall winning score of 3-0. The match stayed in Highlands’ favor the entire time, leading to a complete victory at Tower Park. 

Dylan Fortner (12) played a strong game and won his singles matches 6-2 and 1-0. The same effort was shown by Lukesh Muzumdar (10) as he won his singles matches 6-0 and 6-1. Ethan Lang (10) won the first set 6-3, and tied in his second with the score being 2-2.  

Daniel Beasey (12) and Haydon Newton (12) were doubles partners and won both sets 6-1 each time. 

The team overall played extremely well in each of their matches. This was their final match this year, concluding a strong season of tennis.

Harper Wade is a freshman at Highlands and has been a part of the district since kindergarten at Moyer. She does horseback riding at Highland Acres Stables and is a member of FCCLA. Reese Wilkens is a senior at Highlands and is participating in the journalism program for the first time this year. She has grown up playing soccer in Fort Thomas, starting with the Mustangs at Moyer Elementary and now representing Highlands. Next year, she will continue her soccer career at Thomas More University. Reese joined journalism to explore the graphic design and media aspects of the field, which align with her future goals in business and marketing. She is passionate about learning, researching current events, and engaging in meaningful political discussions.
