Girls’ varsity tennis beats Holy Cross

The Highlands girls’ tennis team defeated Holy Cross with a final score of 5-0 on Monday, April 27. Highlands won all of the dual match singles and doubles. 

Madison Hosea (12) started out strong in the first single match and won 6-0 and 6-2. Christina Truta (9) showed out in the second single match and won 6-0 and 6-0. The last single was performed by Elena Shadwell (10), who won 6-0 and 6-0. 

The first three doubles matches were executed by Ava Muzumdar (12) and Sydney Lehman (12) who accomplished a win with 6-0 and 6-1, Liza Zengel (12) and Brett Sower (11) who won 6-0 and 6-2, and lastly, Ellie Kearns (11) and Callie Kramer (11) with a final score of 8-4.

The last four double matches were succeeded by Caroline Eagen (11) and Maylee Wallenhorst (8) who won 8-2, Penelope Kolb (12) and Sunnie Graft (10) who won 8-1, Kelsay Thomas (12) and Chaney Russell (11) who won 8-3, and the last match was Olivia Nunery (9) and Khloe Trbovich (8) who ended the games with a win of 8-2.

The Highlands varsity girls’ tennis team showed outstanding work through each of the matches. The next match is on Thursday, April 30, against Villa Madonna at Tower Park at 3:30.
