Varsity Softball secures a win against Ballard 4-1

Highlands’ varsity girls faced Ballard on Friday, April 17, at the Birdcage, beating them 4-1. 

Offensively, Highlands recorded 7 hits in 25 at-bats, finishing with a .280 team batting average. Layla Zepf (10) led the team with 2 hits and 2 runs. Kaitlyn Dixon (12) and Katherine Heilman (10) followed up with 1 hit and 1 run each. The team had a total of 4 RBIs. 

On the mound, Kaitlyn Dixon (12) pitched 7.0 innings, allowing 1 run while striking out 4.

The Highlands’ varsity team will play their next game against Newport Central Catholic on Monday, April 20, at the Birdcage with a start time of 5:30 p.m.

Andrea Suarez Espinosa is a sophomore at Highlands High School. She is on the Track and Field team and enjoys spending most of her time with family and friends.
