Highlands’ varsity girls played Cooper on Sunday, March 1, at Truist Arena on the campus of Northern Kentucky University. The birds won 51-42, winning the first round of the 9th Region Tournament.
Offensively, Highlands made 14 total field goals on 32 attempts, shooting at 43.8%. The birds also made 4 three-pointers out of 12 attempts, which ended in 33.3%.
At the free throw line, Highlands went 19-for-27, which is 70.4%. The team also had a total of 30 rebounds.
Solu Nzekwu (8) led Highlands with 11 points, while Bailey Richey (9) followed up with 10 points, and Avery Barber (12) followed with 9 points.
The Highlands’ varsity team will be moving on to round two of the 9th Region Tournament to play Notre Dame Academy on March 3, at Truist Arena on the campus of Northern Kentucky University, with tip-off at 6:30 p.m.
