Boys varsity basketball team wins the district championship

On Friday, Feb. 27, the Highlands boys varsity basketball team won against Newport high school with the final score being 60-50.

Offensively, Owen Ebert (12) had a 100% field goal accuracy, and Amil Wimzie (8) followed behind with a 75% accuracy. 

The team had a total of 23 field goals out of 48 attempts. Tayden Lorenzen (11) had the most 2-point field goals for the team, making eight out of twelve attempts. Vincent Listerman follows behind with five out of ten attempts made.

In total, the team made 13 out of 25 free throws, with Nathan Rickard (12) making five out of seven attempts and Listerman making 3 out of eight attempts. 

Defensively, 23 rebounds were made by the team, with Lorenzen making seven.

The boys will play on Saturday, March 7, in the first round of the 9th Region Tournament at 1:00 p.m. They will play Northern Kentucky University in the Truist Arena against Conner.
