Ladybirds battle at Truist Arena 38-31

On Sunday, Feb. 1, the Highlands High School girls’ basketball team took on Campbell County High School at Northern Kentucky University for the first game of the boys and girls double header. 

The final score stood at 38-31, Campbell County taking the win, bringing Highlands’ record to 12-7.  

Avery Barber (12) had a total of eight points with one 2-point field goal and two 3-point field goals, following with three rebounds.

Katie Bucher (12) had a total of six points with two 2-point field goals and two free throws, and also seven rebounds. 

Kaylee Mills (12) had a total of eight points with one 2-point field goals and two 3-point field goals.

Maddy Lickert (11) had a total of six points with three 2-point field goals.

The girls’ next game is on Wednesday, Feb. 4, at home versus the Ryle Raiders at 7:30 p.m.

Audrina Trauth is a junior this year at Highlands High School, and it is her third year in the publication program. She is one of the four photo assistants shooting football, volleyball, cheer, dance, and many other games and events. She is interested in going to college for either criminal justice, criminology, or forensic science. She would like to pursue photography as a side job to earn extra money in college. She is looking to join the track team this year and make new friends in the program.

Andrea Suarez Espinosa is a sophomore at Highlands High School. She is on the Track and Field team and enjoys spending most of her time with family and friends. Andrea spends a lot of time investing in her relationship with God through her Christian community and is involved in Highlands Navigators. She has been in publications for 2 years and keeps going for her interest in photography. She would aspire to keep taking photography more seriously in the coming years at Highlands.
