Varsity boys swim impress at Regional preliminaries

Categories:

The Highlands boys swim team competed at Scott High School on Jan. 30 for the qualifying round of the Region Seven Championship. They were excited to see what they could do as a team after a promising season.

The relays left nothing to be desired. The boys placed second in the 200 medley relay, fourth in the 200 freestyle relay, and were the first qualifiers in the 400 freestyle relay, with a team of Luke Deegan (11), Drew Davies (12), Elliot Meyers (8), and Charlie Golden (11).

In addition, there were many individual swims that deserve recognition.

Top qualifiers include Deegan (11), placing first in the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke, and Noah Gracey (12), placing first in the 100 yard butterfly and third in the 100 yard breaststroke.

Overall, the boys had a good preliminary session, with many swimmers moving on to finals. The finals session is set to take place on Jan. 31, with the meet kicking off at 1:30 p.m.
