On Jan. 29 and 30, the KHSAA Region Seven Championship held its senior recognition ceremony, honoring the Class of 2026 swimmers and their families, including those from Highlands.
These seniors were recognized throughout the meet, with Highlands being honored in between the 500-yard freestyle and 200 freestyle relay. For many, this was the last meet of their high school swimming career.
“I had an amazing time swimming next to my girls for the last time this weekend,” Addie Tinkler (12) said.
All of the seniors have great memories with this team, and believe their high school career has been very valuable to themselves as well as the community.
“I feel like I’ve grown as a person while I’ve been on this team for the last 4 years, and Highlands has helped grow the competition in the region,” Matthew Meyers (12) says.
Although the seniors are graduating, they’re excited to see what’s to come for this team in the future.
“We have so many young swimmers and a lot of talent that’s headed Highland’s way,” Robbie Koester (12) said.
