Girls varsity basketball takes down Dayton 55-11

The Highlands girls’ varsity basketball team played Dayton High School on Wednesday, December 11. In their home opener, the girls won  54-11. 

The starting five, Avery Barber (12), Kaylee Mills (12), Katie Bucher (12), Gabby Neaufarth (10), and Bailey Richey (9) came out of the gate right away, causing many Dayton turnovers and getting lots of steals, converting them into points. 

They are gearing up for Scott High School on Friday at 6 for the Bellevue Classic, as well as Newport on Saturday at 12 at home.

Hannah Zilliox is a freshman at Highlands and has been a lifelong Fort Thomas resident. She has swam Varsity for high school since the 7th grade. She likes to listen to music, watch movies and sports, draw, and hang out with friends. This is Hannah’s second year of Journalism, including before her 8th-grade experience. She loves to write, especially opinion or argumentative pieces. Hannah is looking forward to Journalism this year.

Andrea Suarez Espinosa is a sophomore at Highlands High School. She is on the Track and Field team and enjoys spending most of her time with family and friends. Andrea spends a lot of time investing in her relationship with God through her Christian community and is involved in Highlands Navigators. She has been in publications for 2 years and keeps going for her interest in photography. She would aspire to keep taking photography more seriously in the coming years at Highlands. 
Natalie Hinegardner
Hinegardner is a senior at Highlands High School and has been enrolled in Fort Thomas Independent Schools since kindergarten at Ruth Moyer Elementary. She has been in the publication department for 4 years. She enjoys writing stories even though she struggles with finding the right words sometimes. She is very opinionated about something she is passionate about when she is comfortable with the people around her. Natalie is a hard worker when it comes to school and sports. She is very proud of her sports and always wants to succeed in them. Her goal is to reach the next level and play soccer in college. She loves her family and friends so much. Although school and sports take up a lot of time, she always tries to find time to hang out with the people she loves most.

Zac Crawford is a sophomore at Highlands High School. It is his second year in publications, and he hopes to improve his photography skills this year. He plays baseball for Highlands and his travel ball team.
