Avery Barber (12) plays defense against Walton Verona's point guard. "I was just making sure to put ball pressure because the girl picked up her dribble and it was dead and I wanted to make sure we could get a steal to convert that into points for us on the board," Barber said.
The Highlands Varsity Girls Basketball team won their second game in a row as they played Walton Verona on Dec. 5, making their record 2-0 early in the season.
Offensively, Highlands thrives, getting a total of 51 points, having 7 different players adding to the scoreboard. Katie Bucher (12) led the offense with 17 points. Bailey Richey (9)is closely behind her with 12 points, each scoring one 3-pointer.
On the defensive side, everyone contributed as the team had a total of 19 rebounds, with Gabby Neufarth (10) contributing 4, and both Kaylee Mills (12) and Avery Barber (12) with 3.
With the 51 – 48 win, Highlands will move on to play Dayton for their first home game on December 10th.
