Seniors sign college letter of intent

On Wednesday, Feb. 18, six seniors at Highlands High School who decided to continue their athletics in college gathered in the PAC to be recognized as they signed their letter of intent. 

These students were Rio Litmer (12), attending Southern University for Football, Russell Ali (12), attending Georgetown College for Football, Jack Heilman (12), attending Missouri Valley College for Lacrosse, Elise Hellmann (12), attending University of Memphis for dance, Mason Howard (12), attending University of Kentucky for football, and Broderick Cook (12), attending Centre College for Football. 

Coaches Bob Sphire, Scott Turner, Aaron Caudill, Ashley Wrobleski and athletic director Wes Caldwell took the time to speak about these athletes and recognize their accomplishments. Bob Sphire spoke for Rio Limer and Mason Howard, Scott Turner spoke for Russell Ali and Broderick Cook, Aaron Caudill spoke for Jack Heilman, and Ashley Wrobleski spoke for Elise Hellmann. 

The next signing ceremony will be held for spring athletes.

Lindsey Berning is a junior at Highlands and has been enrolled in Fort Thomas Independent Schools since first grade at Woodfill Elementary. Lindsey decided to take journalism this year due to her interest in photography and her love for writing. Lindsey is also part of the Varsity Cheerleading team, which is her favorite activity/hobby outside of school. She works hard in the classroom and outside of it. She is planning to continue cheerleading all the way through high school, as well as taking journalism. Although she has a busy schedule, her determination allows her to do anything she puts her mind to. She is excited to see what this year has in store for her!

Andrea Suarez Espinosa is a sophomore at Highlands High School. She is on the Track and Field team and enjoys spending most of her time with family and friends. Andrea spends a lot of time investing in her relationship with God through her Christian community and is involved in Highlands Navigators. She has been in publications for 2 years and keeps going for her interest in photography. She would aspire to keep taking photography more seriously in the coming years at Highlands.
