Boys Basketball falls to Cooper in overtime in 9th Region quarter-finals
On Wednesday night, the Boys’ Varsity Basketball team fell to the Cooper Cougars 62-68 in the 9th Region quarter-finals.
The game started off close, with the score at the end of the quarter being 7-12 with Cooper in the lead.
The birds made their comeback, out-scoring Cooper 22 to 9, making the score at half 29-21, gaining back the lead.
Cooper came back strong and lessened the gap in the 3rd quarter making the score 42-37 at the end of the 3rd.
Cooper kept their momentum into the fourth with a very close game. The game was back and forth all night, and in the last minute, a cooper guard made a layup to go up 2, with Junior Nathan Vinson responding with a layup. The 4th quarter ended in a tie of 53-53, sending the Birds and Jaguars into overtime.
But, the Jaguars kept their momentum, out-scoring the Birds 15-9 in overtime, making the score 62-68.
Senior Seth Ryan and Senior Will Herald both scored in double digits, with 28 points for Ryan and 19 points for Herald. Other contributors were Vinson with 8 points, Junior Brody Benke with 5, and Freshman Vinny Listerman with 2 points.
