On Monday, September 28, the Highlands Boys Golf team won the 2020-2021 Boys Region 8 Golf tournament. Highlands beat four other teams from the region, coming in at an overall score of 323 and placing them on the path to compete at the State tournament.

Four Highlands golfers placed in the top 10 with their individual results. Senior Justin Gabbard came in second with a score of 78, senior Luke Muller following right behind in third with a score of 80. Junior Joel Craft came in fifth with a score of 81 and junior Jack Schneider, with a score of 84, came in seventh.

Despite the tough conditions, the Birds prevailed and this championship served as the Boys’ 10th win this season.

Muller is proud of their triumph at Regionals and is looking forward to State, saying, “It’s a great feeling to beat out region rivals and it was even better to win by one [point]… [At state], I think we have a chance to place as well as we ever have as a team if we play well.”

The State tournament is scheduled for October 4-10 at Bowling Green Country Club.
