After a long night of back and forth, the Highlands Bluebirds came through with a 31-28 win against the Covington Catholic Colonels. Offensively, Highlands had 190 rushing yards, allowing 98, and 144 passing yards, allowing 253.
Quarterback Rio Litmer (12) completed 14 of 18 pass attempts for 169 yards, throwing 1 touchdown pass and 1 interception.
On the ground, Tayden Lorenzen (11) led the rushing attempts with 22 carries for 81 yards, while Gabe Williams (11) added 31 yards on 5 attempts.
In the receiving game, Williams led with 3 receptions for 62 yards. John Feldbruegge (11) contributed 4 receptions for 42 yards.
The team finished with 3 rushing touchdowns, 1 receiving touchdown, 1 field goal, and 4 extra points scored.
On defense, Chase Jacob (11) and Griffin Benke (11) both had 1 solo tackle, both being tackles for loss (TFL).
Conner Carnohan (12) recovered one fumble.
