Highlands girls soccer is having a fantastic year.

They are currently ranked second, under Notre Dame, whom they sadly lost  4-3.

The Roger Bacon game was a frigid night, however, that didn’t stop the Lady Birds from dominating their opponent.

The temperature reached as low as 39° F, leading to a lot of hot chocolate being brewed.

Highlands got off to an early lead of 2-0 in the first 15 minutes of the game.

Highlands kept that lead, taking it with them into halftime.

Thirsty for more, Highlands wasn’t satisfied yet and proceeded to score five more goals, making the final score 7-0, Highlands.

During the game, player Junior Laney Smith had three goals and two assists.

Sophomore Kate Fausz, Junior Claire Cavacini, and Junior Katelyn Jamie all had one goal and one assist, and Senior Anna Melson boasted one goal. Freshman Natalie Hinegardner got a shutout at goalie with seven saves.

Highland’s next game is on October 1st vs West Jessamine.
