On October 18, Yeat released his fifth studio album under the title “LYFESTYLE”. This album is Yeat’s return to form after the change in sound from his last two albums “Aftërlyfe” and “2093”, where he used a slower flow with more drawn-out sounds compared to the high-octane songs from albums like “2 Alive”.
LYFESTYLE is meant to be an evolution of Yeat’s old style focused on the flow of the song and complex beats with heavy synths and bass, taking a step away from lyrical rap into a more abstract form of expression.
LYFESTYLE was executively produced by Synthetic, which surprised many fans used to collaborations with the producer Bnyx, who is the executive producer of the albums “Up 2 Me” and “Afterlyfe”. While Synthetic may not be as big of a name as Bnyx, he most certainly delivered. Some of his best beats on this album include “GEEK TIMË”, “SPEEDBALL” and “THE COSTËS”.
I found this project to be an excellent expansion of Yeat’s previous entirely unique sound. While this album doesn’t have many new aspects, which is disappointing for an artist like Yeat who is constantly evolving, it takes the strengths of projects like “Up 2 Më” and amplifies them greatly.
Upon re-listening to Yeat’s older projects and coming back to “LYFESTYLE” I could hear how his previous music inspired him a great example of this is the song “LYING 5 FUN” which is a sequel to the song “Lying 4 fun” from his first studio album titled “Up 2 më”. I also heard elements of his recent albums mixed in with the old sound in songs like “ORCHESTRATË”.
To me, This album felt like a breath of fresh air, a return to his roots, and a continuation of the sounds in “Aftërlyfe” and “2093” all at the same time. The most notable change in sound from his previous projects is the speed of these songs taking a step away from the slower almost bubbly sounds fans were used to by adding in more significant snares and drums. For all the established elements of Yeats’ music, this album did amazing. LYFESTYLE takes everything that made Yeats’ previous projects enjoyable and unique and cranks it up to eleven.
I believe LYFESTYLE has become one of Yeat’s best projects to date by effectively mixing all of Yeats’ styles. This amalgamation of sound captivated me upon my first listen and has kept me coming back for more. My favorite songs from this album were “GEEK TIMË,” “THE COSTËS,” “SPEEDBALL,” “GO2WORK,” and “FLYTROOP.”
