School dances are a fun way to see friends, meet new people, and create memories that will last a lifetime. Highlands High School has homecoming every year. Homecoming is for grades 9-12, with this year’s being held at Northern Kentucky University (NKU).
Homecoming will include fun dance music, snacks, and drinks.
Bailee Class (9) said, “I am most excited to be with all my friends and create a good first year of high school memories.”
94.3% of students are attending homecoming this year. In the past, students have enjoyed homecoming. The most popular thing people are looking forward to is getting to spend time with friends and create memories.
Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a big part of planning homecoming, and a lot of work goes into it.
Allette Broomall (12), FCCLA Vice President, said, “There are a lot of things that go into planning homecoming, like picking a theme, creating decorations, making the throne backdrop, creating the playlist, publicizing events, and so much more.”
Their hard work and dedication are extremely appreciated by students and teachers.
Ahren Wagner, a Family and Consumer Science teacher, is the advisor responsible for FCCLA.
Wagner said, “We start with the football schedule to choose a home game later in September or October. Also, we need time to properly plan all parts of Homecoming—parade, Spirit Week, and the dance.”
If you would like to take someone from a different school, there are forms you can fill out by the week before homecoming, which you must return to Highlands admin.
The theme for homecoming this year is Vintage Hollywood.
