This year, Highlands High School introduced several new teachers, one including film instructor Dylan Goettke. Goettke oversees filming at the middle and high school as well as managing the daily news broadcasts.
This is Goettke’s first year at Highlands Middle and High School, and his very first year teaching. He teaches Intro to Filmmaking and Film Appreciation.
“I love doing this. Teaching these guys is so fun because I get to see the kids grow.”
Goettke cares about his students and wants to help them love filmmaking too. By the end of the year, he hopes all his students will feel excited about these classes.
The students in his classes seem to enjoy working with him.
Hannah Fritz (8) said, “Yeah, he’s super cool and a fun teacher. I always look forward to his class. He’s doing a really good job for his first year teaching.”
Goettke graduated from Highlands High School in 2015, and shared his experience as a Bluebird.
“I had such a wonderful time here while a student, he wanted to come back as a teacher.”
Goettke’s love for filmmaking and commitment to his students positively impacts Highlands High School by teaching with enthusiasm. He creates a space where creativity can flourish, helping students develop their skills and passion for film. With his connection to the school, Goettke is inspiring the next generation of filmmakers who will carry their love for storytelling beyond the classroom.
