This school year, Highlands High School is excited to introduce Kyle Finfrock as the new health teacher.
As Finfrock begins his first year, it is important to learn more about him and how he is adjusting to his new role.
Finfrock’s transition to teaching health at Highlands High School is marked by both personal passion and professional experience. Before joining Highlands, Finfrock formerly worked at Grant County, where he gained valuable insights into teaching physical education.
Finfrock’s decision to become a teacher, specifically in the health department, was shaped during college.
Finfrock explained, “I got into college and I didn’t really know what to do with my life, so I started taking pre-recorded classes for P.E. and Health, once I started getting into the classes, I fell in love with it.”
He acknowledged that, “All my teachers were great and they all had some influence on me.” This blend of personal reflection and educational background drives his enthusiasm for promoting health and wellness among his students.
Finfrock’s arrival at Highlands High School is creating quite a buzz, with Principal John Darnell praising his vibrant engagement.
Darnell noted Finfrock’s dedication both inside and outside the classroom.
“I think he’s super engaged, not only from being here from 8-2:45, but also helping coach basketball. At the end of the day, I believe he just wants to see all of the students succeed.”.
As Darnell explained, Finfrock “brought a lot of energy,” during his interview, and remains excited about contributing to both health education and extracurricular activities.
This enthusiasm is expected to bring fresh energy and innovative ideas, such as inviting guest speakers to discuss health and mental wellness, ultimately aiming to enrich the student experience.
Jill Taylor, the Physical Education teacher at Highlands, shared her perspective on Finfrock’s arrival and what it means for the school.
“He is ready to take on the challenges of teaching high school students. He is a hard worker and has been putting in the time to meet the high expectations we have at HHS.”
His eagerness to face new challenges and bring fresh ideas is promising for the school year. Highlands can look forward to the beneficial changes Finfrock will bring to the classroom.
