On Tuesday, April 16, selected artworks from the elementary school and the art classes here at Highlands High School will be shown on display from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M.
All art students from Art I, Art II, Art III, AP studio, and photography are invited to show pieces of their choosing at the show. The AP Art history class is making a slideshow presentation to show at the event.
“I am very excited. It’s always great to see student’s work displayed throughout the school,” Andy Eckerle, one of the art teachers at HHS, stated. “I asked for 1-2 pieces from my Art 1 students, 3 pieces from my Art 3 students, and the AP Studio art students exhibited 5 pieces overall.”
“AP Art History was a new class like it had been offered before, but this is the first year it’s taking shape,” junior Shreya Vaghela said. With more art classes and more kids participating, many students are very excited to show their artwork in the show and are very proud of the work they have accomplished this year. Many kids, like junior TJ Hicks who was inspired by his cousin’s love for art, join.
The students and Eckerle are very proud of the progress made this year: “Overall, Yes I think improvement is visible. It’s also nice to see students from Art 2, Art 3, and AP Art exhibit their work, knowing they’ve progressed over their time at the High School.”
If you know someone who is participating, I would highly recommend going to see the show to support the students at the high school and elementary schools.
