Dance the night away: Winter Ball dance

The information posted from Student Council.

Coming in February is yet another school dance! The winter ball is located at the Mess Hall on Saturday, February 3, from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. The theme is glow-in-the-dark. There will be fun, songs to dance, refreshments, and glow-in-the-dark decor.

To attend the dance, you must be academically eligible. This means you cannot fail in two classes for the semester, you cannot fail two classes the week of the dance, and you cannot fail the same class for three weeks in a row. Although this sounds challenging, it is worth it. Seeing friends and meeting new people is fun and something everyone should experience.

Students must arrive before 9 pm. Students can leave at any time, but once you leave, you cannot return. The student council recommends a semi-formal style, but get creative!

If students want to bring a non-Highlands High School guest, they can fill out the form posted in Schoology. The completed forms must be returned to the AP office before today!

We asked students what they were looking forward to at the upcoming dance. Junior Emme Orme said, “I am excited to hang out with friends beforehand and get ready with them beforehandthe .”

School dances are a great way to see friends and have the opportunity to make new ones.

Students in the student council also had a big part in the planning process. Having a say in upcoming events is a huge role and can help students learn to lead and share ideas.

Junior Lily Arnberg said, “I look forward to setting up the dance in the morning and seeing all my friends.”

Getting to set up is very exciting for the students and the teachers who helped plan—having the high school experience of being able to be a teenager.

School may be challenging sometimes, but fun events like these make the school experience worth it. We hope to see you at the upcoming dance!
