From March 28 to April 6, students had their spring break. Students went to some amazing places and made some truly memorable memories. While others decided to stay local and create their own at-home memories to last a lifetime.
Traveling was a huge thing for a lot of the students, going to some truly beautiful places.
Brenna Henderson (12) and her family took a trip down to Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
“My favorite part about that trip was visiting the Titanic Museum with my parents and little sister,” Henderson said. She spoke about her love for the shopping strip in Gatlinburg. Spending time with family and creating memories is a huge thing about traveling.
Traveling looked a little different for each person, but the same travel thrill was there for everyone. From mountains, to beaches, students made the most of their time.
Brianna Reis (10) and her friend took a trip down to Miramar, Destin, Florida. “I loved tanning on the beach with my friends, and we also made friends with some of the other teenagers in the area,” Reis said.
She discussed her love for the beach, as well as the hot tub they had at their rental home. Having fun with friends, in an area that you love, it’s a definite thing to remember.
Staying local was a very important decision for a lot of the student body. Creating memories at home, while surrounded by that comfortable home feel. William Shilling (10) stayed home this spring break. “I honestly needed a break, and I got what I wanted, a week away, and I got to listen to music and talk to friends. I lived the dream,” Shilling said.
Staying home was the perfect way to relax and recharge, instead of traveling, students found joy in the comfort of their own home.
Corio Alerding (12) stayed local during spring break. “I hung out with my friends and girlfriend, we drove around a lot, even driving up to Columbus, Ohio, and we went to a really cool interactive museum. We had so much fun,” Alerding said.
Highlands students had a great time over spring break, creating memory after memory. Each student had a story to tell, and a smile on their face while telling it.
