With the new school year underway, Highlands has welcomed multiple new teachers such as English and Government teacher, Aaron Sary. He taught at Bellevue for three years before coming to Highlands for his fourth year.
Highlands is a well-sought high school to teach at as well as having an inspiring motto and growth plan, which Sary claimed is a key reason why he made this switch of schools. “I came to Highlands to be a part of a school that is focused on continued growth and excellence despite already having accomplished so much,” said Sary.
Along with A.P. US Government and Politics, Sary has taken on English II. This is because former English II teacher Beth Brubaker transitioned to a full-time journalism teaching position to accommodate a growing Publications class along with middle school yearbook assistance.
“I am ecstatic that we were able to nab Mr. Sary from Bellevue. We were all so impressed with his knowledge and dedication to the profession during his interview,” said English Department Lead Angie Gintonio.
Although Sary is now an English and History teacher, his favorite class that he has taught was Chess History and Principles. Nevertheless, Government and English are still his favorite subjects.
Sary studied at the University of Cincinnati, then was hired at Bellevue High School for three years before coming for his fourth year at Highlands.
Sary moved into Gintonio’s old room and she moved down the hall, she reminisced about her room however, and the quirks that her placement in the room gave her. In spite of this she is excited for a change, and a new face. “It is really neat, though, to see someone start their journey at HHS where I started mine. I don’t miss the noisy ramp, but I do miss my window ledge,” said Gintonio.
Sary’s arrival marks an exciting new chapter at school. With dedication shown to growth and improvement, he is sure to make a lasting impact on the Highlands community.
