For many families in Fort Thomas, Easter wouldn’t be complete without a basket in hand and some candy in sight. As flowers bloom and birds return, the hunt begins. The annual Easter egg hunt is right around the corner. The City of Fort Thomas holds an Easter egg hunt every year at Tower Park for all ages.
This year it will be held on April 19, 2025, starting at 10 AM with breakfast and pictures with the Easter bunny, followed by the hunt at 12 PM.
“We reuse the plastic eggs from previous years. We either purchase candy or receive donations from local groups like Perfetti’s. This year, we partnered with Highlands Quest students who stuffed over 15,000 eggs,” Chanda Calentine, Fort Thomas Economic Development and Event Director, said.
In addition to the Easter egg hunt, many local businesses also join in on the springtime celebration as they sponsor the event. These small activities, along with larger community events, create an awesome atmosphere.
The Highlands Birds Softball team also participates in the Easter fun as they deliver eggs to people’s yards to raise money for the Birds softball team.

Prices vary from $25 for 25 eggs to $75 for 100 eggs. They can deliver eggs within a 10-mile radius of Fort Thomas. The money they raise will go toward team warm-up jackets for the girls.
“We found this idea from another community that was doing the same fundraiser. It looked fun and an easy way to raise some money for the softball program,” Kelly Pompillio, mother of Morgan Pompilio (11) and organizer of the Birds softball fundraiser, said.
While planning big events and fundraisers like these, there are always challenges that present themselves. The weather is always a big challenge, as you can’t control it or always get an accurate prediction of how the weather may be in the future.
“The most challenging part of planning something like this is meeting the needs of each of the families,” Morgan Pompillio (11) said.
Fort Thomas holds a lot of traditions, and the City of Fort Thomas values having strong connections with their community. Holding these events provides a welcoming and fun community for everyone.
“We believe in bringing the community together, which is why we love hosting events, FREE events. We live in a wonderful place and we want to enjoy that together,” Calentine said.
