Radio show host and Highlands High School Art Teacher Andrew Eckerle smiles for the camera.

Here at Highlands, the HHS Art Teacher Andrew Eckerle has a radio show called “ Eckerle@8”, which airs on Thursday nights at 8 P.M. The next airing is on tomorrow Thursday, October 21, which marks the 2nd anniversary of Eckerle@8.

Andrew Eckerle explained how Eckerle@8 began.

“Mr. Poff told me they were going to start a radio station. I told him I was interested in doing a show and Mr. Poff agreed to let me have a program. I really didn’t think it was going to happen, and am really grateful it did .”

According to Eckerle, Eckerle@8 is produced by Senior Thaddy Sieverding.

“I send them the songs that I want to use, we tape the segments that we want to use in between songs and students put it together and make it sound like a professional show. Currently, Senior Thaddy Sieverding is the main producer and has been doing it since last August.”,

Eckerle has a lot of goals for this show, one being, to play music listeners will enjoy. He has had no experience in radio, his show has us thinking differently. The amount of listeners depends on the week, sometimes it’s 10 people or it can even be 80-100 listeners. Eckerle also has created a Facebook group called, “Eckerle@8 Listeners” that currently has 530 followers.

Eckerle is very grateful for this opportunity.

“It’s been lots of fun doing the show and I hope we can keep it going for many years to come.”
