Everyone’s in Spirit This Week
From pancakes to the YMCA, Principal Matthew Bertasso has made a lot of changes this school year, one of them being his increased focus on school spirit. For the first time, HHS is celebrating an all student and staff Homecoming Spirit Week to help foster school spirit.
Typically, instead of all grade levels participating, only the seniors would dress up during the traditional Senior Week. Don’t worry, the seniors will still get their chance.
Government teacher, Kym Grillot said, “Starting with the Class of 2019, Senior Week will be moved to 4th quarter – sometime in the spring, closer to the date of their commencement ceremony. Many Senior class events are in the months of April and May already so it is the perfect time of year for them to celebrate!”
This year, students from all grade levels are welcome to participate in each day’s theme from Monday to Friday, and, of course, the homecoming dance on Saturday. Below is the schedule:
Monday: Pajama Day. Wear your best onesie or just come to school in what you slept in!
Tuesday: Decades Day. You could be a flapper from the 20s, a hippie from the 70s, or a rocker from the 80s. Have fun raiding your parents closet!
Wednesday: Meme Day. Dress as your favorite dead meme, or find a classic vine to reference. Wear something to bring back the old memories of fun pictures or videos that you sent to your friends.
Thursday: Blue and White HHS Spirit Day. Wear your best Highlands gear or deck out in blue and white!
Friday: O-Zone White Out Day. Wear white from head-to-toe and don’t forget to head to the game at 7:30.
Saturday: Homecoming Dance. It’ll be an enchanted evening at this year’s homecoming. Don’t forget to buy your tickets from Monday-Thursday for $15 each, or $20 on Friday.
Your donation will support the student journalists of Highlands High School. Your contribution will allow us to cover our annual website hosting costs.
