Ladybirds takedown Bellevue Tigers and advance to District Championship

On February 22, the girl’s varsity basketball team won the first round of the district tournament with a score of 60-39 over Bellevue High School. The team was led by Freshman Marissa Green with 32 points, making this her all-time career-high. 

“It felt really good when [Head Assistant Varsity Girls Basketball Coach] Bert Richey came up and told me I had just scored 32 points because I knew that was my career high,” said Green.

To start off the game the Ladybirds led by 7 points, with a score of 17-10 in the first quarter. By the end of the half, the Ladybirds increased their lead to ten with a score of 26-16.

Even with the girls taking multiple fouls throughout the game, overall, the team wasn’t in much foul trouble. 

At the end of the third quarter, they raised their score to 43-29 over the tigers. 

To end the game the girls won with a score of 60-39. This now makes the team record 10-15. 

The Ladybirds will play their next game at Bellevue High School on February 24 at 7:00.
