Girls varsity soccer ladybirds come up big on Senior Night.

The Highlands Bluebirds varsity soccer team held their yearly Senior Night on September 27. The 2021-2022 girls varsity soccer seniors consist of Hailey Barton, Chloe Bramble, Faith Broering, Megan Gessner, Julia Heck, Lucy New, Haley Parks, Jade Rehberger, and Lindsey Thompson.

The Birds battled Saint Henry High School for an inter-region game.

Broering started the birds off in the fourth minute of the game, following up in the 24th minute to tie the game up 2-2. 15 minutes into the second half, Rehberger scored off of a penalty kick.

Sophomore Laney Smith then followed with a header off of an assist from the corner from Broering to give the Birds a 4-3 lead. Soon after, Smith dropped one in the goal again, letting Bramble scored the last goal of the night with seven minutes last in the game.

The Birds won 6-3 bringing their record to 10-4 and 4-2 in region play.

The team will play next away against Conner High School at 4:30.
