On Wednesday, October 16th, the girls’ soccer team faced off against Dixie Heights to see who would advance to the regional finals.
The game started off not on the Birds’ side, with Dixie scoring the first goal of the game with 28 minutes left to go in the first half. The birds kept fighting but the score remained 0-1 going into the second half.
The momentum switched going into the second half in the Bird’s favor. They had more shots on goal with the first goal being scored by a free kick shot by Kendall Graves (12).
The Birds kept fighting and Gabby Simon (10) scored to give the Birds the 2-1 lead with 11 minutes left.
Despite Dixies’ attempts, the Birds’ defense stayed strong until the horn sounded, signifying the Birds’ win.
“We started off a little shaky but we were able to calm down after our first goal and play the way we usually do, which resulted in us winning,” said Graves.
Their next game is Saturday, October 19 at 1:00 at Conner High School.
