Highlands boys soccer beat Covington Catholic 3-2 on October 10th, 2023.
This was a regional game the first one of the year, and it was crazy.
In the first period, the Colonels took over, getting 2 goals within the first period.
Highlands was not converting on their time with the ball and ended up not scoring within the first 40 minutes.
During half-time, the head coach Suli Kayed gave them a talk about what they needed to change and it worked.
In the second half of the game, Highlands ended up scoring two goals. The first one was Junior Harrison Gamble and the second was Senior Dominic Mills.
Once the game was tied up late in the second period it was a dogfight.
Highlands players were cramping up, getting injured, and penalties were flying. But once Highlands got a corner kick they took their chance and succeeded.
Coming to a close, Senior Zach Desylva got a header to win the game 3-2 and move on to the regional tournament.
