On Thursday, March 20, the Junior and Senior classes faced off in the semi-final match of the LEGACY basketball tournament. The game was announced by Eli Hills (11) and officiated by Principal John Darnell and Health Teacher Kyle Finfrock. The goal of this tournament is to show students that communitity interaction doesn’t just happen through social media, but also through face to face contact.
“The most rewarding part was showing you all [the students] that you don’t need cell phones and computers to have a good time,” said Darnell.
The Seniors secured a dominant victory with a final score of 26-11. The Senior team wore black, while the Juniors dressed in blue. Students packed the stands, ready to witness the intense matchup determining who advanced to the final game against the faculty.
“It was a good way to bring the upperclassmen together in some friendly competition,” said Ellie Mohr (12).
The seniors took an early lead, with the score at 8-0 for the first five minutes. By halftime, they had extended their advantage to 15-2, maintaining control throughout the game. Players were rotated every five minutes of the running clock to ensure everyone had playing time, with the final five minutes reserved for the best players to show their efforts for their teams.
The Seniors will now face a team of teachers and staff next week during a LEGACY period.
