Excitement roared as the varsity cheer team made their way to the mat to perform their game day routine. The crowd was flooded with anticipation as the top 3 scores were announced.
On November 14, Highlands placed third at state, making it the highest they have placed in the history of the cheerleading program.
“We were so excited! We felt that all our hard work we have put in this far really paid off,” varsity cheer captain Lily Cleveland (12) said.
Highlands scored 89.10 in the game day category, with Daviess County scoring 92.10 and Woodford counting scoring 93.10, making it a close call between the top 3.
The cheer team has had such an amazing 2024 season, with their hard work in practices paying off at state.
“We practiced multiple times a week trying to perfect our routine as best as we could. We felt that we put our best performance out there and I want to thank our coaches for getting us this far,” Cleveland said.
