This season, the swim team has big goals.
They hope to win the state overall. Last year, they came up short with being second in the state, behind Ryle. The team is hitting the ground running with boosting up the yardage this season, and beginning to weight lift.
“We have been practicing harder than last and training harder to better prepare. We have also added weightlifting to prepare for the upcoming season,” said Coach Kevin Kampschmidt.
With the upcoming season, we see two seniors ready to lead the team, Sarah Jones (12) and Griffin Barlow (12).
Jones trains for the Northern Kentucky Clippers six days a week. Last year she placed 7th in the 100-yard back.
“My main goal this season is for the team to win state, and individual top eight in 100 back and 100 fly,” Jones said.
Last year she placed 7th in the 100-yard back.
Barlow trains for the Cincinnati Marlins six days a week. His goals this season are top three in his 100 breast and 100 fly. Last year he placed 8th in his 100 breast and 6th in his 100 fly. Barlow is committed to swimming at Emory College next year.

With a new season comes new breakout swimmers.
“Charlie Herfel (11) and Keira Kobida (10) look as if they are going to have great seasons,” Kampschmidt said.
Kobida will participate in the 100-yard fly and 100-yard breast, and Herfel will do the 200-yard free and 500-yard free.
The season is looking bright for the swim team, with big goals ahead. State for the team is in early February and the main goal is to win 1st overall.
