Highlands defeated Dixie Heights 4-0 in the semifinals

Highlands defeated Dixie Heights on Thursday, October 16, in the 9th Region Tournament semifinal.

Offensively, Highlands displayed a balanced attack with multiple players adding to the scoreboard. Ariana Harms (12) led the offense with 1 goal and 1 assist for 3 points. Reese Wilkens (12) and Katie Bucher (12) each found the back of the net once.

Ally Lickert (9), Macy Hargis (12), Hope Darnell (11), and Kaylee Mills (12) all added goals or assists to the total team effort.

In goal, Bailee Class (11) helped the defense with 6 saves and recorded the shutout, keeping Dixie scoreless throughout the match. Highlands’ back line remained well, limiting Dixie’s opportunities and controlling possession in key moments.

With the 4-0 win, Highlands advances to the 9th region Championship with a strong post season run.

Andrea Suarez Espinosa is a sophomore at Highlands High School. She is on the Track and Field team and enjoys spending most of her time with family and friends. Andrea spends a lot of time investing in her relationship with God through her Christian community and is involved in Highlands Navigators. She has been in publications for 2 years and keeps going for her interest in photography. She would aspire to keep taking photography more seriously in the coming years at Highlands.
