Highlands breaks through with a 28-24 win over Ryle

Highlands had a 28-24 home field win over the Ryle Raiders last Friday, Sept. 19.

Offensively, Highlands racked up 150 rushing yards while allowing 175, with 76 passing yards, and allowed the Raiders just 127.

Quarterback Rio Litmer (12) had a standout performance, completing 5 of 9 pass attempts for 45 yards. Tayden Lorenzen (11) followed, completing 2 of 2 pass attempts for 17 yards.

On the ground, Lorenzen led the rushing attempts with 25 carries for 94 yards, scoring 3 touchdowns with those attempts. Gabe Williams (11) added 27 yards on 11 attempts.

In the receiving game, Williams led with 2 receptions for 24 yards. Lorenzen contributed 3 receptions for 18 yards.

The team finished with 3 rushing touchdowns, 1 interception return touchdown, and 4 extra points scored.

On defense, Jimi Cox (10) led the Birds with 1 solo tackle, that being a defensive sack. Ryan Dunn (12) followed with 1 solo tackle, being tackle for loss (TFL).

Dunn

recovered one fumble, and Williams had 1 interception for 42 yards.

Highlands will be on the road at Harrison County High School this Friday, Sept. 26, with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m.

Audrina Trauth, Photo Assistant

Audrina Trauth is a junior this year at Highlands High School, and it is her third year in the publication program. She is one of the four photo assistants shooting football, volleyball, cheer, dance, and many other games and events. She is interested in going to college for either criminal justice, criminology, or forensic science. She would like to pursue photography as a side job to earn extra money in college. She is looking to join the track team this year and make new friends in the program.

Andrea Suarez Espinosa, Photo Assistant

Andrea Suarez Espinosa is a sophomore at Highlands High School. She is on the Track and Field team and enjoys spending most of her time with family and friends. Andrea spends a lot of time investing in her relationship with God through her Christian community and is involved in Highlands Navigators. She has been in publications for 2 years and keeps going for her interest in photography. She would aspire to keep taking photography more seriously in the coming years at Highlands.

Zac Crawford, Staff

Zac Crawford is a sophomore at Highlands High School. It is his second year in publications, and he hopes to improve his photography skills this year. He plays baseball for Highlands and his travel ball team.
