The Birds dominate in a 3-0 volleyball victory over the Thoroughbreds

Highlands secured a 3-0 sweep over Newport Central Catholic High School on Thursday, Sept. 18.

Offensively, the Bluebirds looked dominant, taking the sets 25-20, 25-12, and 25-16. Hayden Gessner (12) led the defense with 21 digs and added 6 assists, while Audrey Sorrentino (12) commanded the offense with 29 assists and 7 digs.

Sorrentino is now averaging 12.3 assists per game on the season.

Liz Perkins (12) also made her mark in this game, serving 16.7 percentage of aces this year.

The Bluebirds finished the night with back-to-back victories and improved their record to 11-2.

Highlands will have their next match at home against Holy Cross on Monday, Sept. 22, at 7:30 p.m.
